What an Ending!

We've had quite an eventful 48 hours to wrap up our time in North Carolina. Suzanne, Billy, and Liam all had safe and quick trips up to Grandfather's Vision. We had so much fun posing Liam and Grant together. You can see tons of hysterical pictures below!

On Friday, Aunt Susan was loading her car in preparation for her trip home Saturday morning. When she got into her trunk, she found a half chewed up roll of paper towels. The chewed off pieces were built up together to make a nice little nest in her trunk for some creature! We think it was a mouse. Mom and Dad were in Charlotte for the day, so Aaron got a broom and went out to investigate. He unloaded the trunk and searched all the bags twice and never found anything. When Dad got home, he set a mouse trap in the trunk overnight on Friday, but he didn't catch anything. It's still a mystery, but it made for some funny pictures!

Friday night, we went to the Crossnore Jam. There was a class reunion in the town hall, so the coffee house hosted the event. The two blind men were jamming to their audience of Dad, Mom, Aunt Susan, Suzanne, Liam, Aaron, Grant, and me. After about 10 minutes, 1 other audience member showed up but we were the ONLY ones at the jam at the beginning. We only stayed an hour. We felt bad leaving (since we were the entire crowd -1), but we didn't have much of a choice with both sleepy baby boys!

Saturday morning, Aaron and I were laying in bed around 8:00am with Grant and Dexter. I was cuddling with Grant, and Aaron was petting Dexter. Dexter was being very sweet and cuddly. Dex went to stretch and his front paw hit Aaron in the eye. My husband, who NEVER complains about pain, was a mess. I could immediately tell that it was serious. We managed to get his eye open after a few minutes to put in some re-wetting drops. After about 30 minutes and talking to Aaron's mom on the phone, we realized we needed to head to the ER. So Suzanne and Mom stayed home with Grant and Liam as Dad, Aaron, and I headed to the ER. (Aunt Susan left Crossnore as we were leaving for the hospital.) We were in and out of the ER in an hour. The doctor we saw seemed to know what he was talking about. I was able to see the scratch on his cornea with the black light too. It was more of a smaller, deeper poke than a scratch. The doctor said over and over again that a corneal abrasion is one of the most painful injuries. After 3 prescriptions (including the pain medicine I had after my c-section!!), we were on our way home. Poor Aaron is still in a great deal of pain. He took it easy all day resting on the couch with his eye patch and sunglasses on to block out the light. The abrasion is supposed to heal in 24-48 hours, so we're hoping for major improvements tomorrow morning. We're still tentatively planning on making the 15 hour drive back to KC tomorrow night. We can change plans tomorrow if needed. I already called an eye doctor in Kansas City, and Aaron has a follow-up appointment on Monday to make sure his eye is healing properly. Poor guy! :(

So, as you can see, we've had an eventful few days to end our time in North Carolina! I have a ton of adorable pictures to post. Enjoy! :)

Thursday, 9.16.10

Suzanne and Liam arrived Thursday morning. We hung out around the house most of the day and went to a Mexican restaurant in Banner Elk for lunch. It was fun to see the baby cousins together! Thursday night we sat around the fire pit and made S'mores. Billy also arrived at GV in the evening.
